Despite exhibiting signs of possible mental health issues, including erratic behavior and disorientation, Mitrice was released from custody in the middle of the night without her car, phone, or purse."

Then, in August 2010, Mitrice's remains were discovered in a remote area of Malibu Canyon, about eight miles from the sheriff's station where she was last seen
